America's Energy Kill Switch

Because of the disastrous Iran war, in the US, diesel prices have passed $6.00 a gallon, a 67% jump from 2025. In Europe, natural gas prices are up 140%. To bring prices down, the US threatened Europe with a diesel ban unless EU states released energy from their reserves. In the end, Europe obliged. But this was no small game of pressure and capitulation. America’s diesel threat represents an “energy kill switch” that further fractures the West and could open the door to Russia.
